Bio Hello and welcome, as I sit down with an old fashion pen and tablet, I reflect upon the journey that has led us to this juncture in time. The journey includes my amateur photography career, my professional photography career, and a host of emotions.Emotions, a funny word often overused. Photography is an emotion, the emotions of the people and events we photograph, the media we use to project the photography, and the emotions we the photographers project. So let us start my story~!Herbert was thrown into the world of photography years ago while living in Pittsburgh, PA. Herbert was employed with the Organ Procurement and one of his duties was medical photography. The journey was born in an operating room at Charleston, West Virginia at 3:00 am. Medical photography as with all aspects is a very specialized field and Herbert wanted to learn other disciplines. He started to experiment with portraits, pet photos, to taking the camera with him on the weekend trips to Niagara Falls.The next step in the journey was given life when Herbert and Teresa moved to their current location, Baltimore Maryland. Herbert was exposed to many other photographers from NYC to South Carolina that had a profound effect on who he is today. After age and experience Herbert had the realization he could not continue this without the knowledge and help of others. He spent the next two years studying and performing portrait photography part time as he continued to work full time in health care. By a chance encounter Herbert was given the opportunity to have an internship with a print publisher, thanks to Sam. He photographed many great motorcycles, amazing people, and learned the disciplines in print and advertising photography. The studio life began at this point in time, by renting some space from now a great friend and fellow photographer Jeff. During this time with great stress upon several relationships Herbert hosted a two and half year fine art photography seminar. Herbert will tell you that were many ups and downs with all of his relationships. This was a very emotional time for him and many around him. Photo Vacation, well what Herbert likes to call a photo vacation. Two and half years of the emotional ups and downs he needed a break. Herbert put everything in storage and closed the business. Don started to take Herbert to photograph the sites of Washington DC. During this break Herbert was completely out of the studio and he could refocus his energy. They actually spent three months composing one photo of the Washington Monument, three months! Ask Herbert about this and you will see his face light up like a child on Christmas and he will tell you how they had to use the hand dyer one night to warm their hands so they could work the cameras. Our next chapter, Fine Art Presentations and solo studio. At some point during the photo vacation, Herbert, Teresa, and Jeff started to study with industry leaders of Fine Art Presentation, Fine Arts, and Interior Designers. The group of three invested a lot of time and funds during this two year time frame. Ask any of them the impact of this time they will all tell you “Profound”! Patrick at that time a consultant and now a consultant and family friend warned Herbert and Teresa of opening their own studio. Herbert being Herbert saw this as a challenge; he opened his own studio, studied fine arts, and worked full time. Herbert saw a need for a new photo studio to benefit and serve his clients. Moving a photo studio right before Christmas requires friends with a sense of humor. Herbert’s very first photo shoot in the studio was for a print publication; full circle. The new photo studio at that point felt like home. Home the studio did become home for one night due to the blizzard of 2010. The year of 2010 was one of growth and for the first time Herbert felt the full circle effect. The years of learning and experience were now falling into place. Herbert still realizes the fact that the team makes and completes the client’s projects. He continues to teach, to learn, and to share with others. I only mentioned a few names but everyone that I have encountered during this has played a major role in my development. Teresa, my loving wife, has been crazy enough to support this and I thank you~! I hope you my future client will become part of this story, to be continued………………………………………

The Studio & Gear
We are currently located in Heart of Canton (Baltimore) Maryland right along the water. I will update the studio photos shortly and I guess often, please click on any photo for a larger view. I have listed some information about the studio and the equipment we use on a daily basis. Many photographers list their primary gear and their backup gear, and I have to ask why. TLP Photo has no back up gear; each and every item is used for a specific reason and situation. First we say studio lights but the new gear allows us to be completely mobile, in the field we have full power and battery packs that do not limit us to a few flashes. PPA

Today, Professional Photographers of America (PPA) is the world’s largest

nonprofit association for professional photographers, with 22,000 members

in 54 countries. This association seeks to increase its members’ business

savvy as well as broaden their creative scope, advancing careers by

providing all the tools for success…as they have since 1869.

Truly, life is more peaceful with PPA. Members can rest easy, knowing

they’re backed by the industry’s most powerful organization.

Creating a vibrant community of successful professional photographers by

providing education, resources and industry standards of excellence.

The PPA is one of my largest educational resources to date; it allows me

to stay abreast of current trends and technologies. I have not only

attended PPA seminars, I have lectured at PPA seminars.

NAPP

The NAPP is one of the largest Photoshop Professionals in the world. Photoshop is the gold standard for image and graphic editing. NAPP provides with various formats of continual education, web seminars, live seminars, and an extensive on line data base of resources. As with the PPA education is key and the NAPP is our educational resource for Photoshop.

CPS

The CPS program is available to individuals who are full-time working imaging professionals that meet the membership level requirements of equipment ownership and business.

The CPS program allows us to maintain our equipment with Canon with reduced waiting time and they also provide us will loaner equipment while ours is being repaired maintained or just updated.

Additionally if there is a piece of specialty equipment we do not have Canon is more than happy to loan us this equipment.

FOTO CARE

TL Productions has a very extensive list of photographic equipment for the studio and the field but we cannot own it all. Fotocare is our rental provider for any and all equipment that we may need for any special situations.

BRS

Cofounder of the BAP Camera Club, we often rent our photo studio to others and I have missed teaching since the fine art seminar series ended. So Jeff and I wanted to offer a Camera Club to photographers of all levels and provide them access to equipment and locations we never had when we first started. Last as I member of the PPA, we are held to teaching others at a higher standard. We welcome any and all of our clients to joins the BAP Camera Club and hope to have more events during the upcoming months~!
